Our Mission “To empower, and enrich the lives of all people served” is the mission of the Goldie B. Floberg Center. We serve individuals with special needs, providing them twenty-four hour supervision, care and training. We provide services to people ages five to twenty-two who are both ambulatory and non-ambulatory, and who have a primay diganosis of mental retardation. The age range served in the Children's Program is five to twenty-two. There is no upper age limit in the Adult Program. Young people who have been placed in the Children’s Program may be eligible to continue their placement in our Adult Program. Children in the residential facility attend schools in their community. Adults in the Community Integrated Living Arrangement (CILA) program attend Day Programs, Job Training Programs, or our Supported Employment/Training Programs. We believe that the people we serve must be able to choose the goals and services that meet their personal desires. Our responsibility is to provide assistance in obtaining the supports necessary to achieve those goals. We provide services incorporated into a Person Centered Plan (PCP) utilizing comprehensive assessments and personal client interviews. The Plan is specific to the person served and their selection of the goals and achievements most meaningful to them. This plan is developed with the person served, with input from selected guests of the client, family, service professionals, and consultants. Family members are active participants in all planning. The Center has been providing award-winning services to the Northern Illinois area, as well as the entire state, for over ninety years. The geographic area we serve encompasses thirty-three counties located in the northern half of Illinois, including Cook and the collar counties. We also serve children placed from other states and Canada.
